Visitors and residents of the Queenstown Lakes district have a smorgasbord of options for filling the last weekend of the New Zealand summer school holidays. The Queenstown Lakes District Council's annual Summerdaze festival offers several options for families including a Teddy Bear's Picnic at Remarkables Park Town Centre on Sunday from 11am and the Cavell's Big Chill Out with live music and entertainment on the banks of the Shotover River at Arthur's Point. Rounding out the entertainment are Lindon Puffin and Barry Saunders who are set to play at the Winehouse on Sunday afternoon and the talented folk from Remarkable Theatre who will perform Greed, Glamour and Grudges - Tales of Gold from Friday through until Sunday in the Queenstown Gardens. Enjoy!

Plenty of sun in summer yet!

Sun, sun and beautiful sunsets. It's no wonder we were all shocked when mother nature delivered a dusting of snow to the mountain tops around the Wakatipu Basin over the weekend after such a long run of perfect summer weather. With highs reaching 30 degrees the cold snap didn't last long at all and a couple of days later the snow had melted and we were all back to enjoying stunning long hot summer days. If you are planning a trip to Queenstown this summer make sure you do your research as there are a lot of concerts, events and festivals being held around the region which could enhance your trip. Don't forget to pre-book your accommodation to avoid disappointment - we have lots of room options available.

Welcome to 2012 - it's going to be a great year!

Wow - what a wonderful start to 2012 in the Wakatipu Basin. The weather has been superb and thousands of holidaymakers have flocked to the resort to enjoy it. Congratulations to Auckland who took out the National Rugby Sevens title at the Queenstown Recreation Ground on Sunday afternoon and well done to Otago who played well but couldn't quite beat the 11 times champions in the blistering heat. There has been a lot going on in the Southern Lakes district over the holiday period and there are still plenty of events for those who still plan to take a summer break to enjoy. We're looking forward to the huge array of summer concerts planned for the area. Kiwi muso Greg Johnson kicks things off this Sunday at The Winehouse at Gibbston. Avoid disappointment and book your tickets today +64 03 442 7310 and if you need somewhere to sleep check out our accommodation options.
